11A- Idea Napkin No.1

1) You: I am a student at the University of Florida who is experiencing the same problem that all of the people I have interviewed are experiencing. I have always loved to help people in any way that I can and I believe that this business idea will significantly help a lot of people.

2) What am I offering to customers: I am offering my customers a service that will make their lives easier on their commute to work. I will ask the University to enforce that the parking lots change every few months. This will make it easier for a lot of people for at least half of the year. I am requesting that the University of Florida changes some of the parking lots to a different decal every few months.

3) Who am I offering this service to? I am offering this service to students at UF, as well as employees at UF and Shands Hospital.

4) Why do they care? These customers care because they are constantly worried about how long it is going to take them to get to and from work or school everyday because of the parking situation at UF. They want this solution because it will makes their lives that much easier.

5) What are my core competencies? the things that set me aside from everyone else is that being a student I understand how the students feel and for the most part the students feel that the parking at UF is just unfair, especially for those living off campus. I don't think that this has been brought to the Universities attention by many other people, because if it had been brought to their attention I would have thought that they would do something by now.

I do believe that all of these things fit well together and that it is an important unmet need. I think when it comes to parking at UF people are very selfish and do not allow for others to have a chance to be able to drive to work or school. As a student that lives off campus, I have to take the bus to school everyday and this calls for me leaving the house about an hour earlier than I would have to. There are many people, which I have spoken with that agree something needs to be done about the parking situation on campus at UF.

  1. Hey Taylor, nice post. I can't personally relate to this topic, but you do make me feel for the people that are affected by this parking situation. I feel like this problem could be solved, but I feel like your solution doesn't totally address this problem. I think that the University of Florida is probably working to rectify this mistake that they have made, but a full solution to this problem might take quite a bit of time. I am also a bit unsure about how your segment would pay for your service. It seems like your service would be a one-time venture. Nice post!

  2. Hey Taylor, I really like your idea and like how you recognized the problem that is the parking at UF. I had a lot of problems with parking at UF in the past and it just got to the point where I stopped buying the UF decal and just stopped trying to park on campus altogether. Because of this I simplt just walk to class everyday now. For me, it is about a 20-25 minute walk which is kind of long, but in my opinion it is better than having ti deal with the parking. I think your resolution that you identified could solve a lot of problems.

  3. I see your napkin idea coming to fruition Taylor. You have identified a clearly unmet need. Also identified are who is impacted, and how you will go about seeking a resolution to the parking issue. You are clearly competent enough to serve as change agent for this crisis. I believe there to be a significant issue that needs addressing and wish you the best in determining the best possible opportunity to fix it!
