14A- Halfway Reflection

1) when trying to complete assignments for this course you really have to step outside of your comfort zone and tackle the assignment. I have definitely learned to think outside the box when it comes to the assignments in this class. Thinking of solutions to problems is not as easy as it looks

2) There have definitely been times in this class when I have wanted to give up because coming up with ideas can be very tricky. Entrepreneurs see the world through a different lens and it has definitely been challenging trying to think like an entrepreneur. When it comes to thinking of a problem and a solution it is very easy to just say that it will work, however, a lot of ideas end up failing so this class really makes you think, will this work? will people buy this idea?

3) Some tips that I would give next semesters students would definite be to keep up with the lectures, if you are not attending class. Everything is taught in lecture so without those you have nothing. Another tip would be to get ahead on assignments if possible, some of the assignments take longer than others, for example the interviews, you do not want to wait till the last minute to do those. The last tip I would give is to go outside of your comfort zone, this is not real live, however, if you think about it like it is, your ideas and solutions will be much more realistic.

  1. Hey Elizabeth! I really agree that we can develop the ability to think outside the box because it's quite hard to come up with ideas and I always struggle with coming up with ideas to finish assignments. Also, I agree that we can develop the ability to think analytically because entrepreneurship needs a lot of creativity and analytical thinking. For me, I think I could go outside of my comfort zone like you did. Good post!

  2. Hey Taylor, nice post. I thought your tips for success were practical and relevant. This class becomes much easier when you keep up with the lectures, and pacing yourself with the assignments is a good idea. I wish I would have known this when I started the class, and would recommend this advice to not only students of this class in particular, but to any student in a "pace yourself" type of class. I could also relate to your comments on your "comfort zone". I think this class challenges you to think harder and longer than many other classes, and this is a skill that is overlooked. Thanks for the post!

  3. Hey Taylor,
I completely agree with what you said about having to get out of your comfort zone for this course. Before this course, I would have never willingly gone out to conduct interviews with strangers as I am extremely introverted. However, due to the design of this course and its assignments, I have become accustomed to it. Although I didn’t particularly enjoy it, I feel that it’s for the better.

    Great work!
