Reflection
I think targeted network is extremely important. You know what you need. I think that in future social events I will not look specifically for strong ties, I will look more for a bunch of loose ties, I think that this will help me to build my social capital. It is about who you know and not what you know.

Comments

  1. Nice post. I thought your reflection on your post was the best part. I can tell that you were paying close attention to Professor Pryor's lecture on social capital, as you mentioned all of the main points that he emphasized in class. I thought the most interesting point that you mentioned was how many weak ties may be better from an entrepreneurial perspective that a few strong ties. As Pryor mentioned, people within a network of strong ties all know the same thing. This means that weak ties may be best for learning new information. Nice post.

  2. Hey Taylor!

I really like that you mentioned how your weaker ties could potentially be your most helpful, like in the lecture. Even in non-business related situations I seem to learn the most from strangers. I really hope your market expert gets back to you, I'm curious to know their input on the university market, especially that of the University of Florida's. If you go through with your opportunity I really hope the solution can help ease parking concerns on campus, I hear so much about it and I don't even go on campus. Great work!
