Assignment 2A- Bug List

I will identify 20 things that bug me in my day to day life and talk about why I think these things happen. 

1. When sitting at a stop sign it bugs me when nobody knows who's turn it is to go so everyone just sits there waiting and holding up traffic 

Why? 

Nobody is really paying attention to who got there first and everyone is always in a rush

2. When I need to go inside the gas station and pay for my gas with cash. 

Why?

I believe the reason for this is because the gas pumps are not fit to hold cash and this would require the gas station attendants to go outside every so often and empty it out, this can also cause other problems, such as increased robberies 

3. Living with 3 other roommates there are a lot of things in our fridge. Something that really bugs me is when I go shopping first my stuff ends up in the back and then things go bad because I forget they are there. 

Why?

This is just something that happens when there are many things in the fridge. things get pushed to the back and forgotten about. Trying to arrange sections in the fridge for everyone never works because people are always in a rush and things never go back to where they were supposed to. 

4. When I am sitting in a Starbucks studying and my computer is about to die because I cannot sit close enough to an outlet to charge it.

Why?

In order to have enough seats in Starbucks for many people to sit, not everyone will be able to sit at an outlet. There are simply just not enough outlets in the store. 

5. Rush hour traffic on Archer road, causes extreme delays for everyone. 

Why?

I believe that the main reason for this is the major hospital that is on archer road. There are constantly ambulances coming in and out and affecting the lights on the road, also everyone is leaving the university between 4pm and 5pm so this causes traffic build up. 

6.  Parking at UF. There are so many students at the University of Florida, however, I do not believe that there is enough parking for students who do not live on campus. It would make more sense to me to have the students that live on campus not be able to park on campus in the school parking lots because they can talk to class.

Why?

I believe that there is just not enough room for more parking spaces to accommodate for every student at the university. 

7.  It bugs me that sometimes the bus schedule is not as accurate as it should be. Although, there are many bus stops all around campus, sometimes in order to get to your correct stops you need to get on multiple buses and it is hard to time all of these buses correctly. 

Why?

I think the reason the buses are not always completely accurate because there are so many students getting on and off at different stops that it is hard to tell exactly when the bus will be getting to each destination. 

8. Elevators that move extremely slow. I will never understand why I can get to the top of the Empire State building (90 floors) in about a minute, and in some elevators it takes more than a minute to travel five floors.

Why?

I believe that the reason for this is because in some locations the elevators are extremely old and it is very expensive to replace them. Another reason could be for safety reasons. 

9.  When certain rooms in my house are colder than others. My air conditioning is constantly on 70 degrees, however, my room is very warm and by bathroom is always freezing. 

Why?

I think that the main reason for has to do with the insulation in my house. Also my bedroom is obviously much bigger than my bathroom so that may be another reason. 

10.  Going to the mall on a busy day and not being able to find a parking spot at all. 

Why?

I think the reason for this is that not many malls have parking garages. This causes all of the parking spaces to take up the area of the parking lot instead of parking garages, which allow many more people to park. 

11. Something that really bugs me is when I go to a store like Marshalls and there is no actual inventory. When going into a store like this you never know if there is going to be more than one of something, so you might go to the store and not be able to find what you are looking for. 

Why?

The reason for this is because stores like Marshals get all the extra products from other stores, so there is no way of telling if they have an item or when they are going to get it. 

12. When individuals do not pick up their dog's waste. It is extremely aggravating when I am trying to walk somewhere and when I get to my destination I realize I have stepped in dog waste. 

Why?

I think the reason for this is pure laziness. Another reason that this may happen is because there are not dog waste bags available at the time. 

13.  When there are cracks that people can see through in public bathrooms. I cannot stand when I am trying to use a public restroom and I feel like my privacy is being violated. 

Why?

I think that the reason for this is that they were just not built properly, I have recently started seeing bathrooms where this problem has been solved. 

14.  Another thing that I cannot stand is when I am using a public restroom and there is no toilet paper in the stall that I am in. 

Why?

The reason for this is that employees are not checking the bathrooms very often and they are unaware that there is not toilet paper in the restroom, and unless someone tells them, they will not know. 

15.  When someone leaves a light on when leaving a room in my house. Electricity is very expensive. 

Why?

I think the reason for this is just forgetfulness, turning off the lights in a room is a habit that has to be formed. 

16.  Something that bugs me is the food options that are on campus at the University of Florida. When on campus there are not many healthy food options that are available. 

Why?

I think the reason for this is that fast-food is cheaper for college students and it is much quicker than most healthy food places. It makes more sense to the university to have fast food options because students are usually in a rush trying to get to class. 

17. I strongly dislike when a textbook is only available online and only having them for a limited amount of time. I am a student that likes to have a hard copy infront of me and recently a lot of my textbooks have been ebooks. Students are sometimes paying $180 for an online text book that is only available to them for the semester. 

Why?

I think this is an environmental reason, which I do agree with. I think that not wasting paper is a great idea, however, that are a lot of students like me that still enjoy having a hard copy, so I think this should still be an option if the students prefer it. 

18.  Most universities have word requirements now, in order to graduate. I can not even begin to explain how frustrating it is to take a course that has 4-5 paper of 2-3 pages and not receive any word credit for the course. 

Why?

I believe that the reason for this is that the state only allows certain classes to give word credit for example, ENC1101. I have had classes where I have written just as much as an ENC1101 class and not received any word credit for it. 

19.  When I am at a place and because I have a MacBook, my computer does not automatically connect to the internet. 

Why?

I have read that the reason for this is because of the updates on the MacBooks. This does not make any sense, why would apple make an update that restricts people from getting on the internet. 

20.  I strongly dislike when I go to the store to buy something and it turns out that they do not have my size in stock. I wear a small or medium in most things and I believe that these are very common sizes, so it is extremely aggravating when the store is out of it.

Why?

I think the reason for this has to do with the inventory of the store. Stores should do a better job at making sure they are ordering things on time so they are not running out. I know that this is tricky when is comes to retail store because products are constantly changing.

I have described 20 things that bug me. I believe that some of these things are currently being solved because they big many people. Creating this list was more difficult than I thought, there are many times in my day to day life that I think of things that bug me and then go on to forget about them, because I believe that there is nothing I can do to change this.
